چکیده

The final focus system for a 5 TeV collider may be greatly shortened, from 40 km to 0.1-1 km, provided chromatic correction is abandoned, and replaced with ultra-low energy spread of 10%. A conventional singlefrequency linac cannot produce bunches of the requisite length and charge, with an energy spread this small. In this note we elaborate on previous discussion of harmonic acceleration for the purpose of energy spread compensation.

Simple limits on achieving a quasi-linear magnetic compression for an FEL driver

Free electron lasers (FEL) need a very bright electron beam in three dimensions and a high peak charge density. In order to compress an initially longer electron bunch generated from the photoinjector, magnetic bunch compression systems are widely employed. In this paper, first harmonic RF linearization and its associated requirements are reviewed. Meanwhile it is also briefly discussed what is...

Gravity acceleration at the sea surface derived from satellite altimetry data using harmonic splines

Gravity acceleration data have grand pursuit for marine applications. Due to environmental effects, marine gravity observations always hold a high noise level. In this paper, we propose an approach to produce marine gravity data using satellite altimetry, high-resolution geopotential models and harmonic splines. On the one hand, harmonic spline functions have great capability for local gravity ...

An implicit finite difference scheme for analyzing the effect of body acceleration on pulsatile blood flow through a stenosed artery

With an aim to investigate the effect of externally imposed body acceleration on two dimensional, pulsatile blood flow through a stenosed artery is under consideration in this article. The blood flow has been assumed to be non-linear, incompressible and fully developed. The artery is assumed to be an elastic cylindrical tube and the geometry of the stenosis considered as time dependent, and a co...

Evaluation of Temporal Diagnostic Techniques for Two-bunch Facet Beam

Three temporal diagnostic techniques are considered for use in the FACET facility at SLAC, which will incorporate a unique two-bunch beam for plasma wakefield acceleration experiments. The results of these experiments will depend strongly on the the inter-bunch spacing as well as the longitudinal profiles of the two bunches. A reliable, singleshot, high resolution measurement of the beam’s temp...

RF Development for the SIS12/18 Upgrade Program

Fast acceleration of high intensity heavy ion and proton beams requires a new RF acceleration system. The two ferrite cavities operated at h=4, i.e. 0.86 to 5.8 MHz with a maximum amplitude of 16 kV per cavity do not provide a sufficient bucket area. Therefore, it is planned to install a new cavity with magnetic alloy cores (MA cavity) operated at h=2, i.e. 0.43 to 2.8 MHz with a maximum amplit...
